The location is super. Just next to the main road(A591).
If you don't drive,  bus stop is only 1min walk.
Very quiet, you can hear nothing at night.
Clean and stylish, with all the essentials.
Parking at the side of the cottage, very handy.

Beck Cottage is a lovely and cosy place to stay in the heart of the Lake District. It was very clean and welcoming.  The size and facilities of the cottage were perfect for both of us. It had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. Although the accommodation is close to a main road, it was very quiet. We were even able to use the terrace on the first four days as we had glorious sunshine.
The location is also excellent:
Walks right from the front door, a bus stop on the doorstep, petrol station and shopping facilities. And we also had a very good meal at the Sun Inn Hotel next door.
We can wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation!

Olwyn's cottage is really lovely, we had an amazing stay there! The place was clean, well maintained and Olwyn was very responsive and nice to exchange with.
We had a car, which definitely helped with going around, but the cottage is also 1min away from a bus stop, and ~30min walking from Windermere central, which i think is something really convenient if wanting to do the Lake district without a car.

October 2024 Olwyn’s property is a great find. It’s set back from the main road beyond some garages and is really quiet. Nice little garden area you can sit out in. Perfect for my son and I - well located for getting to good walks and cycle rides all around the Lakes. It’s a really comfortable property, comfy beds and fluffy towels, nicely appointed shower room and everything you could need for equipment in the kitchen. We really felt at home and I thoroughly recommend for a couple or family.

From our initial enquiry to arriving at the property. Olwyn was warm, welcoming and responsive to all our questions. The property was very easy to find. We were struck how spotlessly clean it was, with everything you’d need to have a great comfortable stay. There were lots of useful maps and information on walks and things to do in the area. We’d recommend staying at Beck Cottage. Thanks Olwyn, we shall be back!

Homely and well equipped cottage. Host is excellent and so is the location. Parking for 2 cars. Clearly professional hosts and it shows. A home from home. You will love the convenience of this if youre looking for somewhere private but close to everything. Note to those booking for longer stays, there is no washing machine. Lovely little cottage from which to explore Windermere and the surrounding area. The kitchen and living area is well appointed which is ideal if you’re looking to stay in. Otherwise we tended to walk into Windermere for pubs / restaurants - the scenic route via Orrest Head was well worth it for the views. Car is essential if you’re looking to explore further. Recommend this stay!

What a fab cottage! After a 10 hour journey to get there, the reward of how the cottage was presented made it worthwhile doing the 10 hours! Set in lovely area between Windermere and Troutbeck was ideal for us, peaceful and quiet. It was central for us as we wanted to do lots of site seeing and walking, so it was important to be able to come back and relax. The cottage was well fitted out with a fully fitted kitchen, shower/bathroom was great and very comfortable beds I would definitely recommend Becks Cottage and wouldn't hesitate to book again. Thank you for making our holiday great ️

My son and I wanted to have a quick adventure before he went back to university, so looked around for a property on short notice. This property stood out so we booked, and I’m very glad we did. The property is in a great location for walks and things like lake cruises, restaurants in Windermere and Ambleside. It was spotlessly clean with modern furnishings. Instructions were clear and touches like walk guides were really useful. Our lovely host responded to all queries very quickly. There are walks you can do from the cottage. We did the circular walk to Orrest Head, which has an amazing view of Lake Windermere. You may be concerned that the nearby main road would bring some noise but I didn’t notice any. I slept better here than I usually do at home. If you don’t feel like driving, there is a great bus line very close. Also, there is a SPAR shop 5 mins walk away for casual provisions. Couldn’t recommended this place enough. Will definitely look at booking again in the future.

We stayed at Beck Cottage for 14 days and felt very comfortable there. The location is very central. The cottage is located very close to a main road, but you can't hear anything from it. All places in the Lake District can be easily reached from there. The Cottage is very well maintained and excellently equipped, the kitchen equipment in particular was remarkable. Communication with the host was also excellent. All information was available completely and comprehensively in advance. We recommend this accommodation without reservation.

Myself, my wife and her 90 year old mother stayed at Olwyn's cottage for a week and we had a wonderful stay. The accommodation and location was perfect for our needs in every way. The cottage was very cosy, extremely well equipped, and the beds really comfortable. We hope to stay there again in future, and would recommend Olwyn's place to anyone!

We had an amazing stay in the lake District! The house is conveniently located as it is close to a A591. You don't hear any noises from that road though, so you can sleep peacefully :)

Lovely little cottage, spotlessly clean and a lovely base to go exploring in the lakes. Sarah was very responsive and check in was super easy. Very close to Windermere and Ambleside being just a little further along. Brockhole was a great day out and was lovely just being a couple of minutes along the road. The board games were a nice touch and provided some enjoyable cosy family nights in after a long day out exploring.! All in all a great stay and would definitely go back :)

We stayed at Olwyn's Beck Cottage for a short break in The Lakes. The cottage was very nice and cosy. Everything was nice and clean and has recently been redone. The Cottage is in a fantastic location. Close to Windermere and Lakeside. There is plenty of activities to do with Kids close by and lots of places to visit. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend it Olwyn's place. Thank you again for having us.

Beautiful cottage in a quiet location situated away from a busy main road. Everything went exactly to plan, the host communicated clearly and did everything to make sure the stay was pleasant. I would not hesitate in giving this lovely home 5 stars and I sincerely hope to stay again in the future.

Had a great stay in Beck Cottage, which was a lovely base for visiting the Lakes, walking & cycling in the hills. Was a very warm, cosy, comfortable & clean cottage &.well supplied. Glorious shower after a hard day in the hills. Lack of drying space after a soggy day in the hills was only slight annoyance.
Host note:  The drying space comment has been addressed – there is now a clothes rack in the cottage.

We had an incredible stay at the cottage with our 6 year old daughter. We have stayed in lots of different areas of the Lakes before and have never been in such a great location to reach everything - we could get to anywhere in the south or north Lakes really easily. If you are coming with children it's particularly great to be so close to Brockhole where they have a brilliant adventure playground and children's activities. We also used the bus a couple of times which goes from just at the end of the lane and was a really easy way to get to Ambleside without worrying about parking. Due to the location we were also able to do some great hikes directly from the house without taking the car out. The cottage was really comfortable and well equipped and quickly felt like a real home from home. We found it helpful that we could pull up the car right by the house which made it easier to load and unload what we needed each day. Would highly recommend for a couple or family with one child or with two younger children - it might feel small if you have two teenagers, although manageable.
